Review:

It would be really silly to start this review with compliments on Don & Roel Funcken (aka Funckarma) genius and productivity, with counting their releases and their monikers. By the way if some of you are taking such a record so you should add to their long list of monikers (which is really worth record in a Guinness record book) a new one - Legiac. Although Cor Bolten (whose name yet says nothing to me) is also taking part in this project Legiac's music is all filled with the sound that is common only to these Dutch brothers.

My first impression on Mings Faener was "it sounds just like if Funckarma has met FSOL". All these biochemical clicks & cuts, the overall mood of the album is very much alike the sound of the legendary Manchester duo. Another thing that has made me and addict of this release is solid album theme. You must agree that Funckarma creations are more of scattered pieces of music which are not related one to another with some kind of theme thus turning them into solid organism (which is pretty much the same than the one which is drawn on the cover artwork). I have always adored this kind of releases.

And now let's try listening to Legiac just if you have never heard the music of Funcken brothers. I can easily imagine myself astonished by smartly twisted synthetical rhythms, by endlessly spacious background melodies and by energy which is just trying to escape this sound. But my reality is much more close to the earth so I must admit that the main disadvantage of Mings Faener is the slow evolution of duo's music. I tend to find less differences between releases with every new release...

So I can easily state that this album is definitely meant for two groups of listeners: 1. Loyal fans of Funckarma 2. Fans of Sending Orbs label. But if you the one who was listening to IDM a while ago and still has this sentimental wish to bring these good old times back - this album is one of the albums that you should consider starting from. It would have been a perfect album if not my damn wish to hear something new...
